Engineered Surfaces
Effective from July 1, 2024, the Australian Federal Government has implemented a ban on the use of engineered stone containing silica due to health concerns related to crystalline silica exposure.
Mineral Crystalline Silica free surfaces have been manufactured to replace these banned Engineered stone products.
The move towards silica-free surfaces is crucial for ensuring the health and safety of our workforce. Although the previous products are not harmful to end consumers once installed, the law changeover to silica-free surfaces was made to protect the workers in manufacturing facilities when they cut the product in an unsafe way. It is important to note here at Pacific Stone our fabrication process has always been of the highest standard with wet cutting technology to ensure the safety of our staff.
The silica-free surfaces are manufactured using recycled glass, polymer resins, and pigments, making it a safer and equally durable choice for your home’s surfaces. The transition to silica-free surfaces does not compromise on quality. The new materials retain exceptional durability, heat resistance, stain resistance, and aesthetic appeal.
