Limestone & Travertine

Suitable for use in applications with less hard wear or use, limestone’s are usually selected for their subtle patterns and warmer tones. For the most part limestones come in varying shades of grey, taupe, beige and brown.

This can lend itself especially well to designs seeking a muted or contemporary appearance where the stone in itself is not the main feature but rather part of an overall aesthetic.

Travertine is available in a variety of colours, however is typically sought out for the same tones as limestone but with more feature and especially for use in flooring applications. When initially processed it is generally pitted from its own natural formation process.

This can be left to create a visual as well as physical texture or filled and honed in order to create a consistent finish. It is available in either a vein cut or crosscut, meaning it will either present as a continuous and soft patterning or a stronger linear vein.

Limestone and travertine can be used for benchtops, cladding, bathrooms, fireplaces and are also commonly available in tile format for use in flooring applications interior and exterior. It is worth noting that due to their makeup, these stones in applications with exposure to acidic products would need a more thorough maintenance regime if they are to be used, for example in kitchens.
